Looking up the staircase to the tower, you notice that something is inside the glass dome on top, though it is too far away too make out.
go up stairs
After making your way up the stairs, you are now standing at the base of the tower. The path continues ahead to a metal door.
look at tower
You look up at the tower. It is made from cobblestone, some of it moldy. There are no windows. The glass dome on top reaches beyond the clouds.
go inside
You walk forward towards the edge of the tower wall. A metal door blocks your way. You try to push it open, but to no avail. It is too heavy.
look around
The entrance to the tower is a narrow hallway made of cobblestone—at least, what's left of it. The walls and ceiling around you look like they could break down at any moment. Behind you the path leads down the staircase you came from. You get a good view of your home from here. In front of you is a metal door and a small gray button, blending in with the stone wall it is installed on.
press button
Suddenly, the metal door before you springs open as if weighing no more than a sheet of paper. You catch a glimpse into the dimly lit tower.
go inside
You walk inside the tower. The air is cold in here. As soon as you step foot on the checkered stone floor, the metal door slams shut behind you.
look around
In front of you are two winding staircases arranged in a double helix. They are made of smooth stone and look old but sturdy. They reach up the tower into total darkness. In their center is an array of signs, illuminated from below. You can barely make out that they have letters on them.
read sign
You concentrate and squint your eyes, but no matter how hard you try, the signs are too far away to read.
walk to signs
You walk underneath one of the set of steps and in front of the signboard. You are now in the middle of the tower, surrounded by stone stairs. The glowstone beneath your feet give just enough light to see what's around you.
read signs
After your eyes adjust to the light from below, you lean forward and read:
“Upstairs is a portal to the underworld. You may enter, but heed this warning: The Nether is a fickle mistress. She'll chew you up and spit you out if you're not careful. So proceed—if you must—with caution. You have been warned.”
